Paris 16May08

Had a fantastic day yesterday... did a lot of walking. Carol (co-worker) come over the hotel (LeMeridien-Montparnasse) and we went out for some marathon site-seeing. Took the Metro to the Champs Elysee, walked to le Louvre, walked from le Louvre to the Eiffel Tower and took a cab back to the hotel. My dogs were barkin! A few sprinkles and a few claps of thunder didn't hinder us. We waited through the queues and took the elevator up to the uppermost public level of the Eiffel tower... not for the acrophobic or agoraphobic.

Ya gotta just love working in Paris!

So, here it is, day 3 in the City of Light.

Day1 = Taxi dropped us off at the wrong hotel... had to walk 4 blocks to correct hotel dragging our luggage behind us. Checked into the hotel. (Still not quite finished). No TV, no HighSpeed Internet (can't even catch a wifi signal from the youth hostel downstairs). No water, except in the toilette.

Day2 = Still no TV, HighSpeed or Water... moving into a different room. Okay so now I have water... just no hot water. Makes for a very brisk awakening.

Day3 Guests are supposed to check in today.... yeah, good luck with that!

Did already do some sightseeing on Saturday evening when we arrived. Ate dinner near Notre Dame walked to the Pont Nuef (sp) then over to the Louvre and back to the hotel via Metro. Of course today (Monday) is a religious holiday so there is very little open, not even McD's is open today! (did I mention the hotel doesn't have any hot water yet?)

Oh well, the glamorous life of world travel!

The Cabo Vacation (Yeah!! Vacation!!)

So, spend a wonderful week in Los Cabos at the Pueblo Bonito Resort at Sunset Beach with my co-workers (Meredith, Erin and Jeffrey) I like to call them "the professional tanners". It was a little unfare that Meredith and Erin spend the week prior in Hawaii, getting a headstart on their deep-dark coppertone tans. It's sickening! I decided to cheat a little, and got my tan airbrushed on. Looked good for a few days, then started fading. So while everyone else was getting darker, I was getting lighter... oh well.

Now, for the important part of the vacation, Knitting!! Yes, I'm the goofball sitting by the pool knitting from 10am - 6pm. I really thought I'd get a shawl finished. (Blue Heron "Chocolate") but, alas I spent too much time in the pool... nearly finished though. Luckily my flight was cancelled on the way out and had to wait 6 hours for the next flight so I went to the Admiral's Club Lounge and knitted away the hours.

Just got home Sunday. Although I haven't finished the shawl yet, I started the Knitting Pure & Simple "Weekend Neck Down Jacket" Now is it to be warn on weekends? or should it only take a weekend to knit? I'm confused, as usual. It's a sympathy sweater since mom just re-started her Knitting Pure&Simple cardigan sweater. This way we can work on the same sort of project at the same time.

Next week..... PARIS!!
I will be flying to Paris on Friday, getting in Saturday, working until the 15th then spending 15, 16 and 17 sightseeing. Fun times as this is the first time I've been to the "City of Light." Plans include Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Rodin Museum. Perhaps I'll ask the concierge about yarn shops. Will first be staying at the Express by Holiday Inn Canal de la Villette untili the 15th, then a couple days at the LeMeridien Montparnasse then final evening at the Westin Paris.

Hope all is well with everyone!
